About Health Rats

Built for the long run.

We are not coaches. We are not elite athletes. We are not trying to qualify for anything.

We run. We lift. We ride. And we take notes.

Health Rats is a publication for hybrid athletes: people who want to do more than one thing well, stay healthy long enough to keep doing it, and not burn out chasing someone else's training plan.

What We Do

We test gear, track experiments, and write about what actually works for people who train across disciplines. No fluff. No filler. No content written to please an algorithm.

Everything we publish falls into one of three buckets: Gear, Training, and The Lab (n=1 self-experiments).

Training — how to structure a week when you run, lift, and ride without falling apart.

The Lab — our n=1 self-experiments. 30 days on a supplement. 60 days of Zone 2. We track it, report it, and tell you what actually happened.

Who this is for

You run a few days a week. You lift. Maybe you just bought a bike. You are not training for the Olympics. You want to be healthy, perform well, and still feel good at 50, 60, and beyond.

That is our audience. That is us.

What We Believe

Most health and fitness content is built for single-sport athletes or people who want to look a certain way. We think there is a better model: train across disciplines, focus on longevity, and stop treating recovery like it is optional.

The hybrid approach is harder to market. It does not fit neatly into "marathon training" or "powerlifting." But for a lot of people, it is exactly how they actually train.

We are here for those people.
